biography
Sarah McSherry’s is a native Floridian with deep roots in the legal and environmental community. Ms. McSherry’s primary practice area is environmental law, appellate practice and Federal litigation. Ms. Hayter’s experience encompasses the non-profit, private and government sectors. Before joining Robert Hartsell, P.A., she worked for the Office of General Counsel at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, where she litigated administrative enforcement actions, including dredge and fill, air, industrial wastewater, and tanks cases.
Additionally, she brings trial, appellate and advocacy experience from her work with the non-profit Everglades Law Center as well as a pro bono environmental attorney, in areas of law including the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Power Plant Siting Act, Florida’s Growth Management Act and Everglades restoration. She also has private practice civil litigation experience, in which she has represented landlords, banks and creditors. Ms. Hayter’s credentials includes experience in renewable energy and climate change law, after being published and receiving her L.L.M. degree.
In recent years, Ms. McSherry’s has immersed herself in sailing with her husband from as far south as the Ragged Islands in the Bahamas to as far north as the Acadia National Park in Maine.
Ms. McSherry is a member of the Florida Bar and is also licensed to practice in the United States 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, District Court for the Southern District of Florida and Middle District of Florida. Mrs. McSherry maintains membership in the Environmental and Land Use section of the Florida Bar.

While in law school, Ms. McSherry served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Peter Weinstein of the 17th judicial Circuit of Broward County, as well as a research assistant for Professor Roma Perez.

Ms. McSherry earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and went on to receive her Juris Doctor degree from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center.
Ms. McSherry concluded her legal studies upon receiving the L.L.M. degree magna cum laude in Environmental and Land Use Law and Policy from Florida State University College of Law, during which she was published and honed her expertise in renewable energy and climate change law.
